Orphic

Orphic desenvolve-se como um campo de nove imagens, reunidas dentro de uma composição quadrada rigorosa. Dentro desse enquadramento surgem cenas que marcam o nosso tempo: pessoas em trânsito constante, guerra, um cemitério, ar poluído, calotas de gelo em desintegração, o vazio do espaço público durante o período da Covid e um depósito de lixo. Cada imagem existe por si só, mas nenhuma permanece inocente quando isolada. Juntas, formam uma constelação de inquietação, perda e urgência humana, como se o mundo não estivesse aqui a ser narrado, mas revelado em fragmentos.

No centro encontra-se a minha própria forma escultórica, modelada com a intenção de fazer um molde a partir dela. No entanto, nesse mesmo processo de fixação e preservação, a figura voltou a ser parcialmente danificada. Na parte de trás, especialmente em torno da cabeça, os fios e os pequenos blocos que antes mantinham a argila unida tornaram-se novamente visíveis. Aquilo que deveria ter permanecido oculto volta à superfície. Aquilo que antes servia de suporte surge agora como uma cicatriz. Isto dá à figura uma presença particular: não como um objeto acabado, mas como algo que carrega em si a sua própria vulnerabilidade.

É aqui que, para mim, reside o núcleo da obra. Os seres humanos procuram forma, ordem, progresso e controlo, mas nesse mesmo gesto deixam por todo o lado vestígios de fratura. O mundo à nossa volta carrega essas marcas: na guerra e no desperdício, no declínio ecológico, no vazio e numa forma de viver que parece estar sempre em movimento sem nunca chegar verdadeiramente a algum lugar. A figura central não oferece uma resposta a essa condição, mas antes um eco dela. O corpo, ou mais precisamente a cabeça, surge aqui como portador de uma civilização que constrói e desestabiliza ao mesmo tempo.

Orphic torna-se assim uma reflexão sobre a condição humana. Sobre aquilo que se torna visível quando a superfície das coisas é rasgada. Sobre a frágil fronteira entre criar e danificar, entre preservar e perder, entre presença e decadência. A obra não procura explicar. Em vez disso, mantém o olhar sobre aquilo que habitualmente tentamos encobrir: os vestígios das nossas ações, os restos do nosso tempo e a questão do que, no fim, a humanidade deixa de si mesma para trás.
