Streams to Support
Streams to Support is an initiative by FDR-Sound that connects music streaming with direct support for charitable causes.
I donate 25% of the net Spotify royalties received by FDR-Sound to selected organisations and initiatives. The aim is simple: part of the income generated by the music is passed on to projects that can put it to practical use.
How it works
When FDR-Sound music is streamed on Spotify, royalties are generated through the normal streaming system.
From the amount that is actually paid to FDR-Sound, after any distributor fees, label fees or applicable revenue splits, 25% is set aside for donations.
This means the contribution is based on real income received, not on an estimated amount per stream.
Where the money goes
The donations are intended for organisations working in areas such as humanitarian aid, food support and emergency relief.
Initial support includes food banks and Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders.
The organisations supported may change over time depending on need, relevance and the amount available for donation.
Transparency
I want Streams to Support to remain straightforward and transparent.
Updates about donations, supported organisations and the amounts contributed can be published on LumLux Art when relevant.
The purpose is not to turn every stream into a marketing claim, but to make sure that a fixed part of the income generated by FDR-Sound is shared beyond the music project itself.
What counts as net Spotify royalties?
Net Spotify royalties are the royalties actually received by FDR-Sound after any applicable deductions such as distributor or label fees and revenue splits with collaborators.
The 25% contribution is calculated from that received amount.
Does listening cost anything extra?
No.
Listening to FDR-Sound on Spotify works exactly as it normally does. Streams to Support does not add any charge for the listener.
The donation is made from FDR-Sound’s share of the streaming income.
Why Spotify?
Spotify is currently one of the main platforms through which FDR-Sound music is streamed and royalties are generated.
The initiative can be reviewed or expanded in the future as the project develops and other sources of music income become relevant.
