City festival of tradition and renewal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Baroque Influencers is een nieuw stadsfestival in Antwerpen, Belgi\u00eb, dat de manieren wil verkennen waarop we vandaag de dag nog steeds worden be\u00efnvloed door de Barokperiode. Het festival is een samenwerking tussen UCSIA, de Universiteit van Antwerpen en meer dan vijftien culturele organisaties, en biedt tentoonstellingen, concerten, lezingen en meeslepende ervaringen voor mensen van alle leeftijden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Een van de hoogtepunten van het festival zijn de drie grote tentoonstellingen die de bezoekers meenemen op een reis door de tijd van de 17e eeuw tot op heden. De galerijen van de St. Charles Borromeo Kerk laten zien hoe de Jezu\u00efeten in de 17e eeuw devotionele afbeeldingen en ander visueel materiaal gebruikten om hun overtuigingen te verspreiden. Ondertussen zullen meer dan veertig unieke werken van Peter Paul Rubens te zien zijn op de tentoonstelling in het Snijders&Rockox House, die deels virtueel zal zijn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Het festival onderzoekt ook hoe de Barokperiode de hedendaagse samenleving heeft be\u00efnvloed door middel van een lezingenreeks over onderwerpen als vrijheid en verantwoordelijkheid, doel, menselijke kneedbaarheid en de spanning tussen kolonisatie en dekolonisatie. Het programma omvat sprekers uit Belgi\u00eb en het buitenland, en de Albanese schrijver en professor Lea Ypi zal in maart 2023 het podium betreden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baroque Influencers gaat echter niet alleen over het verleden. Het verkent ook hoe de Barokperiode de hedendaagse kunst en samenleving heeft be\u00efnvloed. Zo belicht de Print Room van het KMSKA de religieuze dimensies van de kunstenaarsvereniging De Pelgrim, die in het begin van de 20e eeuw moderniteit met geloof probeerde te combineren. Bij het Port House herstelt het festival de banden met het heden door middel van een hedendaagse broederschap samengesteld door Sergio Servell\u00f3n in samenwerking met de Haven van Antwerpen-Brugge, Antwerp Art Weekend en lokale galerijen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Om een breder publiek te bereiken, heeft het festival ook een tweewekelijkse podcast met dezelfde naam. Elke aflevering onderzoekt een universeel onderwerp dat eeuwenoud en actueel is en nodigt hedendaagse influencers uit om te verkennen hoe ons barokke erfgoed nog steeds ons leven vormgeeft. De eerste aflevering, met kunstenaar Jaouad Alloul, is al beschikbaar op Spotify en de website van het festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baroque Influencers is een festival dat de rijkdom en diversiteit van de Barokperiode en de voortdurende invloed ervan op de hedendaagse samenleving laat zien. Het is een evenement dat niet mag worden gemist door iedereen die ge\u00efnteresseerd is in kunst, cultuur, geschiedenis en samenleving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rubens<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Drie verschillende tentoonstellingen zullen bezoekers meenemen op een visuele reis door de tijd, van de 17e eeuw terug tot nu. In de galerijen van de Sint-Carolus Borromeuskerk zullen ze ontdekken hoe de jezu\u00efeten in de 17e eeuw devotiebeelden, emblemen en ander visueel materiaal gebruikten om hun overtuigingen te verspreiden. En we kunnen niet aan barok denken zonder aan Peter Paul Rubens te denken: tijdens Barokke Invloeden zullen meer dan veertig unieke werken terugkeren naar Antwerpen voor een buitengewone, deels virtuele tentoonstelling in het Snijders&Rockoxhuis. Ondertussen kunnen bezoekers in de Hendrik Conscience Erfgoedbibliotheek met behulp van augmented reality meer te weten komen over de broederschap waartoe Rubens en Van Dyck behoorden in de 17e eeuw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De avant-garde en een hedendaagse broederschap<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

De avant-garde is zonder twijfel de meest fascinerende artistieke periode die we hebben gekend in ons deel van de wereld na de barok. Tijdens het nieuwe stadsfestival zal de Prentenkamer van het KMSKA gewijd zijn aan het belichten van de religieuze dimensies van kunstenaarsvereniging De Pelgrim (1924-1930), waarvan leden onder meer Felix Timmermans, Gerard Walschap en Marnix Gijsen waren en die moderniteit met geloof probeerden te verenigen. Op het Havenhuis zal het stadsfestival opnieuw links naar het heden leggen, terwijl curator Sergio Servell\u00f3n in samenwerking met de Haven van Antwerpen-Brugge, Antwerp Art Weekend en de galeries Sofie Van de Velde en De Zwarte Panter een hedendaagse broederschap vormgeeft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the run-up to the city festival, the organizers are launching a fortnightly podcast bearing the same name. Each episode focuses on a universal subject that is both centuries old and achingly current, and sees podcaster Anke Verschueren inviting all kinds of contemporary influencers to explore how our baroque heritage lives on today. How has the art of persuasion changed over the last four centuries? And what debts do 2022\u2019s influencers owe their baroque predecessors, the Jesuits, either consciously or unconsciously? The first episode, featuring artist Jaouad Alloul, is now available on Spotify and at www.barokkeinfluencers.be.
